Psalm 121:1-2 (NIV), I lift up my eyes to the hills, where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

Need help? Look to Jesus!

Psalm 121 is one of my favorite scripture passages. I can’t even count the many times this truth has brought me comfort. When I need help, I look up! This scripture is  not talking about looking to the hills, that’s not where our help comes from. Our help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth!

Let’s take a look at God’s benefits in Psalm 103:

#1 – Forget not all His benefits…

God has designed a reward system. In Jeremiah 29:13, He says if we seek Him, we will find Him, when we search for Him with all our hearts. Hebrews 11:6, tells us that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. And James 4:8, says that if we draw close to God, He will draw close to us! Look up, your help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth!

#2 – Who forgives all your iniquities …

Don’t you just love the word “all”. It encompasses everything! When Jesus gave Himself for us at Calvary, according to the scripture He was bruised for our iniquities, (Isaiah 53:5)! He gave His body to be broken for us; for our sin once and for all. More than 2,000 years ago, before we even existed, Christ died for our sins so that we could be reconciled and have access to the throne of God’s grace to find mercy and help in the time of our need. (Hebrews 4:16) Need forgiveness?  Look up! Your help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth!

#3 – Who heals all your diseases …

There’s that word “all” again! There are so many scriptures that our Father has communicated  His desire to heal us. I found it fascinating to see how many were tied to forgiveness of sins! Peter says it best.  “Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness, by whose stripes you were healed” 1 Peter 2:24 (NKJV). Need healing? Look up! Your help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth!

#4 – Who redeems your life from destruction…

John 10:10 (NIV),  The thief [Satan] comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” At first the allure is wrapped so beautifully; it’s everything you think you want. However, when the illusion fades, you are often left with ruins. Satan steals what is precious to you, kills your hopes and dreams, and destroys your spiritual and physical life! He does his best to cut you off from God. But Jesus has the power to redeem your life from Satan’s destruction! Jesus specializes in fixing what is damaged beyond our repair! He infuses us with life that only He can give to our dying situations! Is your life filled with carnage? Look up! Your help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth!

#5 – Who crowns you with lovingkindess and tender mercies …

God has a storage place! Psalm 31:19 (NIV), How great is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you, which you bestow in the sight of men on those who take refuge in you.” His loving kindness and His tender mercy is wrapped in His goodness! When do we need access to this benefit? Just all the time! How kind of our Lord is to make sure that its provided for us. No matter what, our Father through Jesus, has offered to us His goodness and mercy. Do you need goodness and tender mercy? Look up! Your help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth!

#6 – Who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s…

The NIV translation reads, “who satisfies your desires with good things…” Psalm 107:9 says, “He satisfies the longing soul and fills the hungry soul with goodness” Jesus confirms it in Matthew 5:6 when he tells us that they that hunger and thirst for righteousness will be filled.” Our Lord knows exactly what to do to quench our hunger and thirst for something beyond what we know.  Something about His goodness that brings energy and rebirth! Looking for your desires to be fulfilled? Look up! Your help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth!

Psalm 121:1-2 (NIV), I lift up my eyes to the hills, where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

Look Up! See God! Help is on the way!
